As a mostly vinyl playing DJ, I like compilations because they save me a lot of time and weight, and when the track selection is good, it can get you out of a pinch when you’re playing for a tough crowd. The “Groove Collection” 12″ series has now passed 50 records in total, and to be honest, not all of them are great, but a select few are really good, listen for yourself and decide. Some of the tracks are pretty well known, some are not, but most of them work a treat on the dance floor.
- Groove Collection 8 – Recommended tracks: Faith Evans – “Love Like This”, Heavy D & The Boys – “This Is Your”, Foxy Brown – “Big Bad Mama”.
- Groove Collection 13 – Recommended tracks: Queen Pen – “All My Love”, Will Smith – “Freakin It”.
- Groove Collection 21 – Recommended track: Reciproque – “Balance Toi”.
- Groove Collection 35 – Recommended tracks: Keisha Cole – “Never”, Goldy – “In The Land Of Funt”, Progetto Tribals – “You Make Me”.
- Groove Collection 47 – Recommended tracks: Dede – “Party”, Queen Pen – “Party Ain’t Party”.
Getting hold of any of these 12′s is not easy anymore, most are probably out of print, but if you like the tracks, I’m sure you can find them somewhere else (I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader…).
