    Ozomatli – “Cut Chemist Suite”

It’s time for some 90s party hip-hop from Los Angeles by the band Ozomatli featuring DJ Cut Chemist and Chali 2na (both of whom are also known from Jurrasic 5):

    Side Brok – “Brænne Brus”

Balance and the Traveling Sounds – “Departure” free EP

Modern soul music played live with real instruments is pretty rare these days, which is really a shame, because when it sounds as good as this, it is truly a pleasure to be enjoyed. This free 6 track EP is an excellent release from a band that I hope will continue to bring us more of the same in the future, and I really look forward to hearing whatever they come up with next.

JBrown & The Mic Smith – “JB&TMS EP” free download

My favorite funky fresh hip-hop duo from down under in New Zealand are back with their debut EP simply called “JB&TMS”, and as always, they really deliver the good vibrations! You can check out two videos from the EP right here: “Cookin Soul” and “Where Ya At“, and you can also download the full 5 track mini album free of charge or for a small donation (you decide!) from the official JBrown & The Mic Smith bandcamp page.

Lyrics Born – “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah”

This dynamite track from Lyrics Born was featured on his “Variety Show Season 3” mixtape released back in 2008, and the intro vocals and the whole groove of the production sounds like it came fresh off a new Bootsy Collins album. Lyrics Born has some of the best flow in hip-hop, and on this one, he really nails it even though he is only featured once.

The Herbaliser Band – “Session One” (2000)

Quite possibly the finest Herbaliser album so far, and also some of the best crime movie music never actually used in any soundtrack:

    “The Missing Suitcase”:
